Community Guidelines & Safe Trading Guide
Lootix exists to help you find trading partners with confidence. But understand one thing first: the actual delivery of items happens inside the game, where we cannot see it and cannot intervene.
The most important thing to know
We cannot recover any in-game item. Game assets are controlled by Blizzard and we have no access to them; Blizzard's own support likewise does not handle trade scams and does not restore items lost in trades. What we can do is freeze the trade record on the platform, correct its status, remove violating content, and suspend violators. What we cannot do is bring your item back, or compensate you on the other party's behalf.
This is not evasion — it is the real boundary of every game-trade matching site in existence. Prevention is therefore worth far more than reporting after the fact, so please read the rest of this page.
Six steps to trade safely
- Check the other party's reviews and record. Reviews can only be left by both parties to a completed trade, once each — so the ratings are real. Also note: a brand-new account with few reviews selling a high-value item deserves extra caution.
- Complete the offer/accept flow on the platform. Don't just agree verbally in chat and jump into the game. The on-platform record is the only thing that can be verified later.
- Keep important agreements in the in-app chat. Item, quantity, price, and any extra conditions — type them out in the in-app chat. Anything agreed on Discord or another messaging app cannot be verified by us and will not be reviewed.
- Verify the item in-game before confirming. Once it's in the trade window, check each affix, quantity, sockets, ethereal status, and ladder/hardcore state — then confirm.
- Always use the in-game trade window. See the next section.
- Mark the trade complete on the platform and leave a review. It's the only way trustworthy reputation accumulates, and it helps the next player.
Never do these
- Never drop items on the ground. This is the most common D2R scam. The other party claims there's "too much to fit" or "we need to split it", asks you to drop first, then picks everything up and leaves. Anyone can pick up a dropped item, and we cannot verify any of it.
- Never accept a multi-stage trade. "Give me half first and I'll send mine" makes every stage a separate act of trust. A genuinely large deal can be split into several individually complete trade windows — not into half-paid, half-owed.
- Never look away before confirming. Swapping the item at the moment you click confirm is a common trick: a same-named item with far worse rolls, or an ethereal/non-ethereal switch. Look again before you confirm.
- Never trust a "middleman". We do not provide or assign any intermediary. Anyone claiming to be an "official Lootix middleman", "support holding it for you", or similar is a scammer — report them. An intermediary only moves the risk onto a third person; it solves nothing.
- Never click unknown links. Lootix will never ask for your game account password or ask you to sign in on another site. Any link asking you to "verify your account" or "claim a reward" is phishing.
- Never trade for real money. Exchanging items for cash, gift cards, points, cryptocurrency, or boosting violates Blizzard's terms, may get your game account banned, and will get you suspended here.
- Never trade items of unknown origin. Duplicated ("duped") or cheat-obtained items may not be listed; such items can be removed on the game's side, and no one can compensate you when that happens.
Common scam patterns
- Drop scam: any request that you drop your items on the ground first.
- Item swap: replacing the item in the trade window right before confirmation.
- Impersonation: names nearly identical to a well-known seller (lookalike characters, an extra space), or someone claiming to be staff. D2R character names are not unique, so recognizing someone by character name is unreliable — rely on the platform account and its review record.
- Fake support phishing: a DM saying "there's a problem with your trade, verify at this link".
- Fake listings to manipulate prices: listing items that don't exist or aren't for sale, to move the market before trading with you.
- Free-giveaway bait: "free item" offers designed to get you into a game or onto a link.
- Pulling you off-platform: insisting you "talk on Discord" from the start. Off-platform agreements can't be verified by us, and moving there is often the point.
Community guidelines
In any text field on the platform, public or private (username, bio, shop description, listings, chat, reviews), the following are prohibited:
- Hate speech, discrimination, threats, harassment, personal attacks.
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or excessively violent or gory content.
- Spam, repetitive listings, mass invalid offers, notification flooding.
- Soliciting or posting real names, ages, addresses, or contact details.
- Advertising or directing users to other sites or communities.
- Publicly calling out or accusing other users. If you believe someone violated the rules, file a report. Naming users in public fields, rallying others against them, or spreading unverified accusations is itself a violation. The reason is practical: character names are not unique and screenshots can be faked, so allowing public accusations turns the reputation system into a defamation battleground — which hurts every honest trader.
- Fake and reciprocal reviews. False reviews, retaliatory reviews, reviews from alternate accounts, mutual rating inflation, and fake listings to manipulate prices all result in suspension.
How to report
- Find the report entry point: listings, user profiles, and chat messages can each be reported; app and website feedback uses the same entry point.
- Pick a reason and be specific: state the time, the party, and what happened. "He's a scammer" is not actionable; "On 7/28 we met in game X, I delivered 3 Ist first and he went offline" is.
- Evidence requirements: uncropped, unedited, complete screenshots. Cropped, zoomed, retouched, stitched, or illegible images are not accepted.
- We can read the in-app chat. During review we read the full conversation for that trade — this is the biggest difference between us and many comparable sites, and it's why keeping agreements in the in-app chat is your most effective protection.
- For trade disputes, use "Report a problem" on the trade page: this freezes the trade and notifies both parties, the other party can submit their explanation, and both statements are considered. Raise it within 14 days of the trade being created.
Note: knowingly filing a false report or fabricating evidence is itself a violation and will be acted on. Please cooperate during an investigation and do not block staff.
Enforcement & appeals
Enforcement includes content removal, warnings, feature restrictions, temporary suspension, and permanent suspension. We do not use a fixed strike system; we judge by severity — scams, account theft, and phishing links may result in permanent suspension on the first occurrence. Outcomes are communicated only to the parties involved, so please don't discuss them publicly; our internal criteria are not published.
If you believe an action was taken in error, email [email protected] with your account name and evidence. Creating a new account to evade a suspension voids your appeal.
